FUNDING & CREDITS
Shoreditch Town Hall Trust is very grateful to the many organisations which have helped to fund the building renovations.
MAIN RESTORATION WORKS
In 2004, the first phase of a planned two-stage renovation of the building was completed. New roofing, wiring, heating and structural works were undertaken and the Victorian Council Chamber, Mayor’s Parlour and Entrance Hall were fully restored to their original grandeur. The work was carried out with the assistance of the London Borough of Hackney, the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Bridge House Estates Trust. The stained glass windows in the Council Chamber and Mayor’s Parlour were restored with the help of a grant from the H&G de Freitas Trust.
In addition, workspaces for small businesses were created with the help of funding from the European Regional Development Fund.
COMMITTEE ROOMS
During 2005, additional funds were raised to refurbish the run-down former Committee Rooms and the ground floor toilets. This programme of works was funded by Biffaward, the Garfield Weston Foundation, the Mercers’ Company, Coutts Charitable Trust, the Manifold Trust and Launch Pad Events.
OTHERS
We are grateful to the following companies for their role in our restoration programme to date: Niall Phillips Architects; Thomas Ford & Partner; Hornagold & Hills; Faber Maunsell; Gardiner & Theobald; Killby & Gayford.
